"Mets officials were aware of Zambrano's elbow discomfort, but, from conversations with him, they did not know that he was close to tearing a tendon. It was an acute event, something that could have been handled better, Randolph and Minaya said, but not completely prevented. Otherwise, he would not have been pitching.
"It should be a lesson that if you have some discomfort that you should communicate that to uniformed personnel," Minaya said. "
